Student & Parent Agreement

The Residency

The Studio

This Agreement is entered into between Arillo Studio LLC, operating as The Studio ("The Studio") and the parent or legal guardian ("Parent/Guardian") enrolling a minor student ("Student") in The Residency. By submitting an application and completing payment, Parent/Guardian agrees to the following terms on behalf of themselves and their Student.

1. Program Description

The Residency is a 10-week live creative studio for high schoolers, meeting every Tuesday from 5:30–6:30 PM Eastern, September 15 – November 17, 2026. Between sessions, Students are expected to complete asynchronous work including shipping work-in-progress artifacts, providing peer feedback, and independent project development.

2. Parental Consent

Parent/Guardian confirms that their Student is a minor (under 18 years of age) and that Parent/Guardian has the legal authority to enroll the Student and agree to these terms on the Student's behalf. Parent/Guardian consents to their Student's participation in all program activities, including live video sessions, written feedback exchanges with the Studio Guide, and participation in the Week 10 Showcase.

3. Participation Expectations

The Residency is a small-cohort program. Each student's presence and participation materially affects the experience of the full cohort. By enrolling, Parent/Guardian and Student agree that the Student will:

  • Attend all weekly live Tuesday sessions on time
  • Complete assigned between-session work
  • Engage respectfully with their Studio Guide and cohort members
  • Share work-in-progress honestly, understanding that feedback is part of the program

Technology requirements: Students are expected to join weekly sessions with a reliable internet connection, a working camera, and a working microphone. Consistent technical difficulties that disrupt participation are the responsibility of the enrolling family to resolve.

The Studio reserves the right to remove a Student for failure to meet participation expectations or for conduct that substantially disrupts the studio environment. In such cases, The Studio will issue a prorated refund for sessions not yet completed.

4. Student Expression and Wellbeing

Creative expression: The Residency is built on the premise that meaningful creative work requires access to the full range of human experience. Students may explore any subject matter in the course of their projects — including difficult, uncomfortable, or emotionally complex themes. Work that engages with dark or challenging material is often a natural part of serious creative practice and is not cause for concern in itself.

Conduct: Student work and participation must remain respectful of all cohort members. Writing or behavior that constitutes a personal attack on another student, or that is racist, discriminatory, or intentionally harmful toward others, is not permitted. The Studio Guide reserves the right to redirect a student whose work or conduct crosses these lines.

Student wellbeing: The Studio Guide reads all student writing and takes student wellbeing seriously. If a student's writing suggests they may be experiencing significant personal distress, the Studio Guide may reach out to the student privately. If writing suggests a student may be in immediate danger or crisis, the Studio Guide will contact the Parent/Guardian directly and, where required by law, the appropriate authorities. By enrolling, Parent/Guardian acknowledges and consents to this protocol.

5. Recording and Likeness Release

Session recordings: Regular weekly sessions are not recorded.

Week 10 Showcase: The live showcase will be recorded. Each Student will receive a personal clip of their own presentation. This recording is for the Student's personal use. The Studio may request permission to use showcase clips for promotional purposes separately and in writing — this is opt-in only and not a condition of enrollment.

Week 5 Check-in: As part of the Week 5 midpoint, Students will record a short video for their parent/guardian. This video is created and shared by the Student directly and is not retained by The Studio.

Parent/Guardian consents to the above recording terms on behalf of their Student.

6. Tuition, Payment, and Refund Policy

Tuition is due in full upon acceptance. Payment is collected via Luma. Your card is authorized at the time of application submission and charged only upon acceptance.

Founding Cohort rate: The fall 2026 cohort is offered at an inaugural rate of $1,300 in exchange for an honest written review from Student and Parent/Guardian at the program's close. Standard tuition beginning Spring 2027 is $1,500.

Cancellation and refunds:

Cancellation timing Refund
More than 30 days before program start 75% refunded
14–30 days before program start 50% refunded
Fewer than 14 days before program start No refund

To cancel, reply to your acceptance confirmation email. Refunds are processed within 5–7 business days.

Program cancellation by The Studio: In the unlikely event The Studio cancels a cohort, full tuition will be refunded within 5 business days.

7. Liability

The Residency is conducted entirely online via video conferencing and digital collaboration tools (Zoom and Miro). By enrolling, Parent/Guardian acknowledges that:

  • The Studio is not responsible for technical issues arising from the Student's own internet connection, device, or third-party platforms
  • Participation in creative feedback and critique is a core element of the program; The Studio is not liable for a Student's emotional response to feedback delivered in good faith
  • The Studio is not a licensed mental health provider and does not offer therapeutic services

The Studio's total liability for any claim arising from participation in The Residency shall not exceed the tuition paid by the enrolling family.

8. Intellectual Property

All creative work produced by Students in the course of The Residency remains the sole intellectual property of the Student. The Studio claims no ownership over student writing, projects, or creative work produced during or in connection with the program.

The Studio may, with the Student's written consent, feature student work on The Studio's website or in program materials. This is opt-in only and is not a condition of enrollment or program completion.

9. Privacy

Student information (name, email, written work) is used solely for program delivery. Work shared on the cohort Miro board is visible to enrolled cohort members and the Studio Guide only. The Studio does not sell or share student data.

10. Governing Law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey. Any disputes arising from this Agreement shall be resolved in the courts of New Jersey.

11. Force Majeure

If The Studio is unable to deliver a session or the program due to illness, emergency, or circumstances beyond The Studio's reasonable control, The Studio will notify Parent/Guardian as soon as practicable. In the event of a cancelled session, The Studio will make reasonable efforts to reschedule. In the event of full program cancellation, a full refund will be issued within 5 business days.

12. Severability

If any provision of this Agreement is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that the remaining provisions of this Agreement continue in full force and effect.

13. Agreement

By submitting an application and completing enrollment, Parent/Guardian confirms that they have read, understood, and agreed to the terms of this Agreement on behalf of themselves and their Student. This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between the parties with respect to the subject matter herein and supersedes all prior or contemporaneous communications, representations, or agreements, whether written or oral.
